Georgetown is the major settlement on the mainland of Exuma.  Once a year, the Exuma regatta  takes place and people come from all over the world to watch the sail boat races.  Regattas take place on many of the islands, but the Exuma Regatta is by far the largest and a must see.  Year  round tourists flock here for the deep sea fishing, diving, conching, trolling and snorkling.  Here you will find world class resorts like the Four Season, which is open now, and offers a championship  golf course and watersport activities.  The people are very friendly and would gladly invite you to their homes for food, although the restaurants are top notch and the local food is fresh
