Located 468 miles southeast of Palm Beach, Mayaguana is the most southern and easterly island in the Bahamas. The unique thing  about this island is that it has a tropical climate all year round. It inhabits only 308 persons in 3 different settlements most of whom are fisherman.  During the NASA Mercury and Apollo programs, NASA  built a 11,000' runway and a missile tracking station. There is also a Mayaguana Aerospace Park and museum, a 25,000 acre Eco-Park complete with full modern tourism facility, a nursery and botanical garden,  an experimental farm and miles of nature trails for hikers, bikers, canoeists, and other interested persons.
