This 13 mile long, 63 square mile island is said to be where Columbus first landed in the Bahamas. It is located 200 miles east southeast of New Providence. There are less than
500 residence on the island but it is full with history. San Salvador is home to The New World Museum, Farquharson Plantation, otherwise known as Black Beards Castle, Watlings Castle and is home to one
of the last hand-operated lighthouses in the Bahamas. There is plenty to do in San Salvador such as wreck dives, horse back riding, and lots of resorts, including a Club Med. |
