This island was first named Santa Maria De La Conception, but later some rum runners renamed it Rum Cay after they found a sunken ship full of rum. Its located about 20 miles southwest of San Salvador, and is home to under 100 residents. There is only 1 settlement on the island called Port Nelson, and a restaurant which serves an excellent Bahamian menu. The things to do there are walks on the beach, snorkel, swim, or you can visit some plantation ruins and just relax under the warm sun and meditating sounds of the ocean. All in all, this is a very unique island.
